"Uganda Shoe Tree" - Project
On 25th July 2019, it was finally time. We brought two large bags of girls and boys shoes to school. Overall, we were able to distribute 75 pairs of shoes and socks to the schoolchildren. Then we planted 75 fruit trees.
Excited, the children were waiting for us on the school grounds. In a classroom, we unpack our shoes. Sorted by girl and boy shoes. Step by step the children came to us. At first we had to remember that the guys did not know how to tie shoe laces. But that was not a big problem. The bigger problem was putting on the knee socks. All children were very happy.
The target of this project is, to collect further donations so that all schoolchildren have own shoes.
Subsequently, the 75 fruit trees were planted. The children had a lot of fun and then immediately took care that the trees got water.

Then we distributed sweets, colored pencils and balloons in all classes. The children got Frisbees and footballs for playing.
10,000 liter water tank for the school (March 2020)
With new donations, e.g. by selling honey at the holiday fair in Vienna in January 2020, we were now able to buy a 10,000 liter water tank. The rainwater is collected from the roofs and can then be boiled and used as drinking water.
It can also be used to water newly planted trees.
We will soon buy water filters so that you can use the water without boiling.
100 pairs of shoes, 50 trees, four water filters and a power connection
(May 2021)
With donations we were able to hand over a total of 100 more pairs of shoes and socks to the school children in May 2021. We are also planting another 50 fruit trees. We also bought four 30l water filters. With this water filter, the rainwater no longer needs to be boiled.
We were also able to finance the electricity connection for the teacher's room and two other classrooms.
